Ibrahim Harbi

Ibrahim Harbi is the National Coordinator of the Somali Integration Society (SIS), the leading organisation helping Somalis in Wales.

Ibrahim was born in Somaliland and educated in the UK.

Ibrahim has worked for a number of years in the promotion of the Somali community in Wales working with a range of communities and stakeholders. As an example of this, he has worked extensively with a number of local authorities in Wales, the Welsh Assembly Government and a variety of private sector agencies.

Ibrahim designed many innovative projects in Wales such as:-

These projects have helped to raise the profile of the Somali community in Wales and as a consequence their needs recognised.

Fatima Noor

Fatima is the Project Coordinator of the ‘I am ME project’. She has worked with the Somali Integration Society (SIS) since 2006.

Fatima was born here in Cardiff Wales and has visited Somaliland on two occasions.

Fatima has only been in the voluntary sector for a year now and is currently progressing to study her MSC Management in the Community Profession to enhance her knowledge extensively in the field. Although coordinating the heritage project Fatima has dedicated much of her time in helping the organisation to grow through networking with other voluntary organisations and researching into specific needs for the Somali community.

Hodan Mohamed

Hodan is the Outreach officer for the Somali Integration Society. She has worked for the organisation for 10 months and 2 months as a volunteer.

Hodan was born and raised in Newport, Gwent and has been to Somaliland 4 times.

Hodan’s background is administration and steered towards the voluntary sector after attending events put on by SIS. Hodan is responsible in linking with all parts of the community here in Cardiff, Newport and Swansea. Hodan has made contacts with many organisations such as, NHS, AWEMA, DIABETES UK, BREAST CANCER CARE and EMAS

These projects have helped to raise the profile of the Somali community in Wales and as a consequence their needs recognised.

Omar Ali

Omar is the support officer for the SARAH project.

Omar has worked in the areas of youth and community work around South Wales over the past 10 years.

Omar hopes to increase access for young people and their families to key services.

Omar has been a dedicated supporter of SIS from the onset.

Mustafe Hussein

Mustafe is the Coordinator of the SARAH project.

Mustafe was born and educated in Somaliland.

Mustafe has worked for many years in Europe and many other parts of the world with Somali communities

He has recently worked intensively with Asylum and refugee communities in the UK around their housing needs and welfare.

The SARAH projects key aim is to facilitate the better integration of young Somali Refugees and Asylum Seekers.

Mustafe has been a key member of the organisation helping it grow through liaising with the Elders of the community.
