Activities
The Somali Integration have been funded by many different funding bodies, Welsh Assembly Government,
Department for International funding and the Home office to name a few.
The project is for 3 years and the project is funded by the Welsh Assembly which concentrates on three main areas:
- Health
- Education/Employment/Training
- Community Integration
SAHAN Project
As part of the main project SIS received a grant from the Home Office challenge fund. This funding enabled SIS to carry out the SAHAN project. The Sahan project came about after much research into the needs of the refugee's in Cardiff. Even though the project itself is mainly for refugees SIS has not turned anyone away because of their status.
The SAHAN project started in January 2006, concentrating on 3 key areas:
- Health
- Community Safety
- Employment and Training
At the beginning of the project SIS arranged for seminars to launch each strand. All three seminars were launched in City Hall in Cardiff. The reason SIS chose to launch these seminars in such a big way to start off with was to get maximum attendance to be able to understand the needs of the community through question and answer sessions with service providers. The Sahan project started January 2006 for 1 year.
